The Very Hungry Mummy – A Parody

A very hungry mummy cartoon

All this talk of New Year and dieting everywhere I go is turning me into a Very Hungry Mummy!  I can’t stop thinking of the biscuits I shouldn’t be eating.  It got me thinking of the classic Eric Carle book – The Very Hungry Caterpillar and well I couldn’t resist giving it a twist with the story of a Mummy of one becoming a Mummy of two.  So here goes.

In the light of the moon after a three day induction a young Lady lay in a hospital bed.

On Wednesday it rained all day and by tea time – pop!  Out of the young Lady came a baby, making her a very hungry Mummy.

In  December, well she’d just become a Mummy, so she treated herself with chocolate and all things nice.  But she was still a Hungry Mummy.

In January she thought she should start to get her figure back.  So she ate foods with no carbs.  But she was still a Hungry Mummy.

In February she was fed up eating eggs and chicken so she went back to eating bread.  But she was still a Hungry Mummy.

In March, she was celebrating St Patrick so she ate lots and lots of Irish Stew.  But she was still a Hungry Mummy.

In April, it was Easter, so she was back to eating chocolate.  But she was still a Hungry Mummy.

In May the Hungry family went on holiday and they ate lots and lots of pasta.  But she was still a Hungry Mummy.

In June, it was time to cut carbs again.  But she was still a Hungry Mummy.

In July, it was all salads and cheese, not a slice of bread in sight.  But she was still a Hungry Mummy.

In August there was lots of Summer parties with Pims and Fruit galore.  But she was still a Hungry Mummy.

In September as an end of summer treat she filled up on ice cream and cake.  But she was still a Hungry Mummy.

In October it was trick or treating time, so she ate all the sweets she’d bought for callers.  But she was still a Hungry Mummy.

In November she drank lots of wine, ate lots and lots of her first babies birthday cake, had some pate on toast with chutney and decided it was time to expand the family.

That night….  *I can’t be typing that on the internet, my mother might read it!*

Nine months passed and she ate and ate and ate.  But she felt great!

Now she wasn’t hungry any more  – and she wasn’t a slim Mummy anymore she was a big fat Mummy!

She went off to hospital.  She stayed there nearly two weeks.  Then she burst out the hospital doors and was a beautiful Mummy of Two.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a book I remember loving as a kid and the Little C’s now love it too.  As a little girl going to birthday parties I think I even remember a friends older sister reciting it as her party piece.

What book reminds you of your childhood?

Oh this is brilliant! Speaking as a person that has just come through the “ate all the chocolate in December” page I can empathise! I now need to spend the whole of January eating one nice green leaf I think! Love your take on this – thanks for linking up with us x #DreamTeam

Ha I’m right there with you! Given the amount of chocolate I managed to work my way through I should be on green leaves for the next 11 months. xx
